HVAC

I am double posting tonight, but Corey is excited because we officially have air conditioning. It would be more exciting if it would actually start to warm up here. Corey is already having visions of coming home from work to a cool, air conditioned house. Corey hasn't had air conditioning since he moved here 5 years ago....I have been around for 3 of those years with no air. It will be nice, I just forget what it is like.

We took advantage of the Energy Rebates and installed a 95% efficient furnace. For those of you that are looking for a good HVAC company, DelJo is the best company to work with. Thank you to Bob and Cayse for getting the HVAC work completed. Phone is 773-248-1144.

Breakfast In Bed

We are sleeping in the Dining Room! So, far there has been no breakfast in bed! Corey started painting the Master Bedroom over Easter weekend. This is the room that used to be Robin Egg Blue. Corey quickly found out that underneath the Robin Egg Blue was a flowered wallpaper! We went Alison and Corey style and chose "Morris Room Grey" for the wall color from the Arts and Crafts Collection by Sherwin Willams. The trim is done in "Classic Light Buff" from the same collection. The top picture is the best picture of the new crown molding. Corey is putting new 7-1/4" crown molding and baseboard in all of the rooms. I obviously didn't know that it was 7-1/4", but he is standing right here while I am posting!

So, I think I got my pictures organized!

Just to catch everyone up...the house was in move-in condition, but my General Contractor husband had bigger plans! We closed at the end of February, so he had the entire month of March to work on things at the new house. But, how long does a month really last? Especially, when you are Corey, and you have 1 million other projects going on! And...your wife is working like crazy...had to get a plug in for me! We had to be out of the apartment by April 1st. Here are some more pics before the work started!

Some of the pictures above are of the living room, dining room, fireplace (which we will eventually replace), the lovely blue color of our "master bedroom, the guest bedroom, with a broken window and the window in the upstairs bathroom. The window in the upstairs bathroom is the only thing that is left of the upstairs bathroom. Corey has debated about putting in a different window, but it will stay.

As an interesting fact, this house is registered as a Historic Chicago Bungalow with the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association. The stained glass windows above the fireplace are original and will stay. The house was built in 1924. I am feeling the flapper mantra in here....I even cut my hair off!

These are some of the pictures from before we actually moved in. The bathroom in the pics is the upstairs bathroom, which no longer exists. I will have more this week, from after we moved our stuff in.

I'm a PC and I am 31 years old!!

So, I think I can do this....especially after watching the little boy put together the lion and tiger slide show and the 4 year old that takes a picture of her fish "Dorothy" and sends it to her family! I thought I was techno savvy. After all, Kyle Meek and I were the Computer Monitors for our classroom in second grade. But, I think I have fallen behind! I know many of you want to see pictures....stay tuned, I should have some by tonight or at the latest this weekend! Maybe one of the kids in the commercial can give me a phone tutorial!

We've Moved!! And of course the Windy City gave us a nice Spring-Wintry Mix last weekend to move in. I would expect nothing less! But, we did it! I wanted to give some kudos to the people that helped us get here!

First of all, my husband, who has literally worked his buns off over the last 4 years to get us to home ownership in Chicago! He is currently down about 25 lbs. If he gets me a kitchen, I will try to fatten him up. I know how to make doughs now! (Courtesy Grandma Mary & Mom Connie- Shout out to Cooking Weekend 2009 Part 1! - Doughs = Pasta)

To Ed (most fabulous realtor ever), enter shameless plug for Dreamtown Realty....They definitely know coffee machines (my crack machine) and of course Chicago real estate! Ed, you truly do know my style. He was there with champagne in hand right after the closing! And Ivan...the nicest lawyer in Chicago! Hopefully, I don't need Ivan for anything else, but he was a very down to earth lawyer to work with through the process! Both of these guys, kept Corey "calm" while we were finishing things up on Wednesday, February 25th, 2009 in Chicago Title! Ironically, the same day that Cousin Zoe Smith entered the world! We won't forget when we got the mortgage!

And finally, Viktor and crew....these guys reign all the way from the Ukraine! They picked up boxes like they were feathers! And, took Corey's truck battery out to get the UHaul started when it died...with all of our stuff in it right in front of our apartment! Enter, Corey Meltdown Stage 6....

Of course, Big Mar and Big J...my very supportive and loving parents! Big J says we should have shot video of Big Mar's face when she saw the shape the house was in! But, they jumped right in and helped clean and pack boxes and, took care of the logistics, like getting the Internet in the house and ordering lunch etc!! Thanks Mom and Dad! And to Allyson Olsen for "getting her hands dirty" and helping to clean and take some loads over! And for being my "Jewerly watcher" this week! She really didn't have to, but she did. I will have to start working out if she decides to move out of her place....those stairs will kick my #$%&*!

We have made some progress.....so far, we did get a working toilet, got a shower curtain up, got some sub-flooring down in the bathroom. This prevents people from seeing you use the bathroom from upstairs! The can lighting has gone in and slowly, but surely the crown molding is being replaced! Got to do my other job now, so stay tuned for more pictures. I am Alison Fernandez Gullion and I am a PC!!!!
